The Review will examine the progress on pledges made at the Global Refugee Forum 2023 and aims to further expand support for refugees
The Global Refugee Forum (GRF) is an international gathering that brings together UN Member States and other stakeholders to find solutions for the challenges faced by refugees and their host communities. Held every four years, it supports the practical implementation of the Global Compact for Refugees.
The GRF Progress Review 2025 is a high-level officials meeting that will reflect on progress made since the last GRF 2023, and outline steps for the future. Its priorities are to advance the implementation of pledges made at the GRF 2023, and inspire further support for refugees and the countries that receive them. Ahead of the Progress Review, stakeholders are encouraged to keep making new pledges, and to submit progress updates on existing pledges.
This year’s programme brings together refugee leaders, organisations, and allies from around the world to highlight priorities emerging directly from refugee communities. Please note that attendance is by invitation only, bringing together senior government officials and senior representatives from GCR stakeholder groups. A livestream of the plenary sessions will be available.
A side event on multi-year financing for refugee education – A Shared Responsibility to Secure Sustainable Futures will take place on 16 December, 15:15–16:40.
In addition, the following two education-linked events will take place:
- Access to Transformation: 15by30 Pledge on Higher Education and Skills for Self-Reliance | 16 December, 14:00–18:00
- Teachers at the Frontline: Voices from Refugee Settings on Progress, Challenges, and the Path Forward for GRF Pledges | 17 December, 11:30–13:00.
Furthermore, R-Space, a refugee-led forum for critical dialogue that shifts away from state-centric conversations toward solutions driven by impacted communities, will be returning to Geneva during the GRF Progress Review with 27 refugee-led sessions at the Impact Hub. You can explore all sessions and updates on the event page, and download the full programme here.
