Online Global Launch of 2022 Report on Education Under Attack

1 June, 2022

The Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA), together with the
Permanent Missions of Nigeria, Norway, and Spain to the UN in New York, invite you to a
virtual event to launch the 2022 edition of Education Under Attack.

GCPEA’s flagship report documents how schools and universities have been bombed
and burned, and students and educators killed, maimed, raped, abducted, and recruited
at, and en route to, school in 2020 and 2021. It profiles 28 conflict-affected countries with
a systematic pattern of attacks on education and military use of educational facilities, and
identifies trends in attacks on education, including the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic,
and the effects of explosive weapons.

Marking the seventh anniversary of the Safe Schools Declaration, an inter-governmental
commitment to protect education during conflict, endorsed by 114 states, the event will
also highlight good practice in implementing the Declaration and realizing the right to
education for all.
