On 23 June, the Geneva Global Hub, co-sponsored by Core Group on Safe Schools and Group of Friends on Children and Armed Conflict, organized the side-event to the 2021 ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment titled Education in Emergencies: Disruptions and Opportunities – How humanitarian crises affect children and youth and what we can do about it.
The event focused on bringing education in emergencies to the forefront of the humanitarian agenda, by spotlighting crisis-affected and displaced children and youth who cannot access safe education and highlighting the importance of involving local actors in global dialogues for strategic decision-influencing around EiE.
High-level diplomatic representatives, NGOs, local government representatives from crisis-affected areas and impacted youth, participated in the informative panel and subsequent interactive discussion.
