The United Nations International Day to Protect Education from Attack, established by a unanimous resolution of the UN General Assembly, was adopted on 28 May 2020 during its 74th session. This landmark resolution, which calls on states to protect students, teachers, and educational institutions, was initially presented by the State of Qatar and co-sponsored by 62 Member States.
This year, 9 September marks the sixth United Nations International Day to Protect Education from Attack, with commemorative events being held in the days before and after, in Geneva and elsewhere. These include a dedicated exhibition by Education Above All, entitled “Reshaping Action”, and a Youth Hub Debate, hosted by Qatar Debates, which will both take place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on 9 September, from 11 am onwards.
