Fifth International Conference on the Safe Schools Declaration

The Fifth International Conference seeks to inspire stronger commitment to the Safe Schools Declaration and will focus on the theme of “Safe Education for All”.

The Safe Schools Declaration is an inter-governmental political commitment dedicated to protecting education in armed conflict. It offers guidance on concrete measures that armed forces and armed non-state actors can take to deter military use of educational facilities, to reduce the risk of attack, and to mitigate the impact of attacks and military use when they do occur. Opened for endorsement in 2015, it has so far been signed by 121 states.

The Fifth International Conference on the Safe Schools Declaration seeks to mobilise renewed political will to protect education from attack and inspire concrete commitments to the Safe Schools Declaration. Organised by the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack, its theme will be “Safe Education for All: A Decade of Commitment, A Call to Action through the Safe Schools Declaration”.
