A side event to the 2025 ECOSOC Humanitarian Affairs Segment
This side event will explore new solutions to address the urgent issues facing the humanitarian and Education in Emergencies (EiE) sector, with a focus on the critical role of Women and Girl-Led Organisations (LWGOs) in driving change. As the humanitarian system undergoes a reset, the event will reaffirm that gender transformative and inclusive EiE should be a key component of a reformed humanitarian system.
Bringing together humanitarian leaders, donors, and local women organizations, the event will examine how we can unlock EiE’s full potential in a new era of humanitarian action, and identify innovative solutions to address pressing challenges. In particular, this side event will emphasize the urgent need for local women’s leadership in Education in Emergencies (EiE), including through LWGOs, to contribute education responses in crises to ensure the interventions are gender-responsive, inclusive, and sustainable.
The side event is co-sponsored by Education Cannot Wait, the Geneva Global Hub for Education in Emergencies, the Global Education Cluster, Switzerland, UNICEF, and Voice Amplified.
Please note that in-person participants need to additionally register on the UN’s Indico system here to obtain access to the venue.
